F.A.Q.

What is EplaDerm?

More and more people are looking for the ideal method to remove unwanted hairs – preferably with a method more skin friendly, painless and permanent than known with shaving, waxing, epilation-devices and even Laser. The answer to this is the EpilaDerm enzyme hair reduction and Scandinavian Sugaring.

EpilaDerm`s enzyme hair reduction system is designed to produce a more permanent effect – simply by adding proteolytic active enzymes after any depilation / waxing.  A unique innovation from the labs in Denmark making it possible for almost each waxing salon to offer long-term hair growth reduction to a very affordable cost – without having to invest in expensive equipment.

EpilaDerm Scandinavian Sugaring takes the enzyme hair reduction system to a new level.  Scandinavian Sugaring is all about hair removal with the particularly light viscous transparent danish Sugar Pastes accompanied by the post-depilatory skin care and long-term hair growth reduction with enzyme products.

On the one hand EpilaDerm Scandinavian Sugaring stands for a clean, hygienic, efficient and easy application for the esthetician. Whilst on the other hand, ensuring for a skin friendly hair removal experience with long lasting results and attractive well-maintained skin for your customers (for WOMEN and MEN).

EpilaDerm Scandinavian Sugaring thus combines the best of our enzymes, sugar pastes and educational know-how into a holistic concept in which all the products and application steps are carefully considered and coordinated.

What is Sugaring?

Sugaring hair removal, an ancient middle-eastern practice uses an all natural paste or gel made from food-derived ingredients like sugar, water, and lemon juice to remove the hair follicle from the root. The results can last up to six weeks. While there are many recipes, only natural ingredients are used in real recipe. It's also been called sugar waxing, although not a correct term, because it's done very similar to waxing.

Benefits of Sugaring

Sugaring exfoliates as it removes the unwanted hair, making it a more desirable way of removing hair then waxing.  Exfoliation helps alleviate pain associated with hair removal.  The exfoliation also prevents any rashy bumps that are sometimes associated with hair removal.

What is Waxing?

Waxing is a temporary method to remove unwanted hair from the face or body. Liquid wax is applied to the skin and strips of cloth are adhered to the wax.  The cloth strips are then pulled off the skin in the direction of the hair growth, removing the unwanted hair.  Hair re-growth is slow, and usually occurs within 2-8 weeks after waxing.

Benefits of Waxing

It is long lasting form of hair removal, many clients claim that their hair were growing thinner and at much slower pace. Hair re-growth can start between 2 and 8 weeks. Waxing leaves no unsightly nicks or cuts unlike razors. It is quick and easy.

The Benefits of Facial Treatments

A facial can offer many benefits. The face is always subject to the elements such as the sun, maybe smoke or an improper home regime. Facials offer you the opportunity to work with a professional skin care specialist who will analyze your skin, help you improve your complexion and show you how to take proper care of your skin.

A facial can give you deep cleansing, deeper than the cleansing you get at home. A facial includes cleansing as well as exfoliation which can help to unclog your pores. Extracting open comedones will also help rid the skin of acne. Your skin care specialist will help soften the skin with steam, hot moist towels, and enzymes or other exfoliants.

An esthetician will choose the ingredients to help your skin type. The esthetician may choose a mask to detoxify your skin or hydrate your skin. By getting a proper analysis you will not only learn your skin type, but I will be able to create a facial experience that addresses your skin's needs.

A facial helps increase circulation and stimulates the skin. It can also help slow down premature aging by custom-targeting your skin care. Facials are a great preventative treatment to help you beat wrinkles before they occur. Keeping your skin hydrated will help keep the skin moist and stop dehydration.

A facial may help you understand the proper skin care products for your skin. Most people are using the wrong products for their skin type; this causes the skin to become sensitized. A good esthetician will work with your individual skin type. Skin type is determined by pore size, tone and texture. It is also determined by oil production, called sebum.

What are Chemical peels?

Chemical peels can improve the skin’s appearance. In this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin, which makes it “blister” and eventually peel off. The new skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.

Chemical peels can be done on the face, neck or hands. They can be used to:

  • Reduce fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth

  • Treat wrinkles caused by sun damage and aging

  • Improve the appearance of mild scars

  • Treat certain types of acne

  • Reduce age spots, freckles, and dark patches (melasma) due to pregnancy or taking birth control pills

  • Improve the look and feel of skin

Areas of sun damage may improve after chemical peeling.

After a chemical peel, skin is temporarily more sensitive to the sun, so wear sunscreen every day. It should say "broad-spectrum" on the label, meaning it protects against the sun's UVA and UVB rays. Limit your time in the sun, especially between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and wear a wide-brimmed hat.

Who is a good candidate for a Chemical Peel?

Generally, fair-skinned and light-haired patients are better candidates for chemical peels. If you have darker skin, you may also have good results, depending upon the type of problem being treated and type of peel you are getting.

Before You Get a Chemical Peel

Tell your Master Esthetician if you have any history of scarring, cold sores that keep coming back, or facial X-rays, if you are on Accutane, Retin-A or Antibiotics.

How long will it take to see result with peel treatments?

One of our benefits is that clients see immediate skin improvements with the initial treatment. Since our products are so effective and consist of such concentrated amounts of active ingredients like anti-oxidants, cell-stimulating ingredients, and protective properties, you will see a dramatic change almost instantly.

In order to treat pigment disorders or the signs of aging, a longer treatment plan will be necessary to achieve a good result. Your aesthetician will discuss options for you in order to achieve the maximum benefit for your skin condition.

What is the difference between a chemical and physical sunblock?

Chemical sunblocks contain ingredients which absorb harmful UV rays. This process takes place in the actual layers of the skin. Here, the chemical sunblock reacts with the harmful rays and transforms them into a different kind of energy, mostly heat.

A physical sunblock works like a shield to reflect the actual UV rays, keeping them from penetrating the layers of the skin. All our SUN products contain a physical block.

In order for a sunblock to be effective, it needs to offer broad spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection, like all of our SUN products. In addition to providing the best protection, all of our SUN products are also moisturizers which can be used daily even if you are not exposed to the sun

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion treatments use a minimally abrasive instrument to gently sand your skin, removing the thicker, uneven outer layer.

This type of skin rejuvenation is used to treat light scarring, discoloration, sun damage, and stretch marks.

Microdermabrasion can:

Improve age spots and black heads.
Improve hyperpigmentation (patches of darkened skin).
Exfoliate your skin, resulting in a refreshed appearance.
Lessen the appearance of stretch marks.
Reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
Reduce or eliminate enlarged pores.
Treat acne and the scars left by acne.
Microdermabrasion helps to thicken your collagen, which results in a younger looking complexion. Collagen is a protein in your skin that’s abundant when you’re a child and makes skin appear taut and smooth. Collagen production declines as we age, resulting in looser, uneven skin.
